SOUND-G offers commonly and universally accepted metal materials such as brass, nickel silver and 100% sterling silver. Except the products using the processed black finish, all products in the pure metal series are solid, and not plated.

Brass

Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc; the proportions of zinc and copper can be varied to create a range of brightness with varying patinas.

Brass is commonly used for decoration for its bright gold-like appearance and applications where low friction is required such as locks, gears, bearings, doorknobs, ammunition, and valves in addition to plumbing and electrical applications. It is also used extensively in musical instruments such as horns and bells for its acoustic properties.

Brass has a muted yellow color which is somewhat similar to gold. It is relatively resistant to tarnishing, and is often used as decoration and for coins. In antiquity, polished brass was often used for mirrors.

Nickel silver

Nickel silver, also known as German silver new silver or nickel brass is a copper alloy with nickel and zinc.

Musical instruments, including the flute , saxophone, trumpet , and French horn can be made of nickel silver.

For example, some leading saxophone manufacturers, such as Keilwerth , Selmer , P.Mauriat , Yanagisawa , and Yamaha offer saxophones made of nickel silver, though these are far rarer than traditional brass bodied saxophones.

Sterling silver

Sterling silver is an alloy of silver containing 92.5% silver and 7.5% (by mass) of other metals, usually copper. The sterling silver standard has a minimum millesimal fineness of 925.

Fine silver (99.9% pure) is generally too soft for producing functional objects; therefore, the silver is usually alloyed with copper to give it strength while preserving the ductility and beauty of the precious metal.

Among metals, Silver has the highest thermal conductivity and one of the highest optical reflectivities.
